LGBTQ+ voices are rarely heard in the mainstream music scene. Cheap Seats is a platform for representation, visibility and discussion highlighting this diverse and intersectional community in Santa Fe and beyond. It was conceived as a way to bring talented, intellectual artists/musicians together from around the U.S. to share their voices and their art.
Visibility and representation are an effective way of supporting and building community. Please join us for the first iteration of Cheap Seats V1, featuring queer, trans, and gender non-conforming artists from Santa Fe, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and New Orleans. In a time when live music events are on hold we are using the virtual space as a vital space to listen, witness, and engage with each other.
This is a free event. Please support the artist with a DONATION. We recognize times are hard and we appreciate whatever you can give to show the performers you value their work.
RED'S GARDEN: Santa Fe, NM
Red’s Garden is the art and music project of painter and electronic musician Jennifer Spektor (Red), who lives on Tewa land in Oga Po'oge (Santa Fe, NM). A queer Jewish trans woman and lifelong visual artist, her visual and musical work focuses on the themes of nature, healing, and embodiment. In the studio, she uses her Jewish immigrant ancestry as a source of creative guidance by sampling from and drawing on Klezmer motifs. Jennifer's original music was featured on the original soundtrack of modular synth documentary "Patch CV," in which she was also profiled. She is currently training to become an art therapist and counselor.
