As part of Intersections,Vital Spaces commissioned professionally filmed and edited videos to bring together New Mexico artists and performers working in different mediums responding to a shared theme. "What the Earth Needs" is a place based exploration of Barrio Analco by the Santa Fe River on O’ga Pogeh Owingeh - (White shell people). Combining Ishi Sato’s song, Alejandra Avila’s choreography, and Diego Medina’s poem, Josh Tafoya created a woven piece that interpreted what it is to be an American in New Mexico, everyone involved being of mixed ancestry, Indigenous to New Mexico - moved through their relationship with Indigeneity and decolonization through movement, poetry, song, and textiles. Produced by Maida Branch and Ana Gallegos y Reinhardt. Sponsored by the City of Santa Fe Arts and Culture Department, Cultural Investment Funding Program, Digital Collaborative Impact Award. Thank you to Doza and Anaid from Ditch the Box Studios for filming and editing!

Ice Crop by Luna Galassini
Friday, February 4, 2022 10:00 AM-
Saturday, March 5, 2022 7:00 PM
Ice Crop is a collection of sculptures modeled on historic 19th century ice harvesting tools. The exhibition includes a video filmed near Las Vegas, NM, where the sculptures, cast in materials including wax and unfired clay, encounter the contemporary landscape. These sculptures serve as revenants of the false promises of capitalism and the ephemeral nature of the worlds it purports to create.

BENEATH THE SURFACE
Saturday, April 16, 2022 3:00 PM-
Saturday, May 28, 2022 4:00 PM
In this exhibition and series of public conversations, the SciArt Santa Fe community attempts to peel back the layers of art research that lay beneath the artworks on display. The Santa Fe-based artists represented in this exhibition have long standing, deep practices in diverse disciplines that connect art and science, including physics, mathematics, engineering, biology and consciousness. Through this exhibition and related conversations, SciArt Santa Fe aims to reveal the magic behind the curtain, what drives an art/science practitioner to create, how do abstract scientific concepts drive the development of material and form, how can art/science engage the public and raise awareness of overlooked interconnections that expand our vision of what might be possible?

the color of there seen from here, the color of where you are not by Viola Arduini
Friday, February 25, 2022 5:00 PM-
Saturday, March 19, 2022 9:00 PM
the color of there seen from here, the color of where you are not is a collective reflection and a relational exploration of migratory movements, of relationships with place, and of impossible desires.
Sparked from Viola’s experience as an immigrant in times of closed borders, she invites others to collaboratively investigate what longing and belonging mean, exploring the liminal, connected forces of being-here-and-not-being-there at once.
